Guidespell - all singing, dancing extravaganza to celebrate the Centenary!

Christine McLachlan, Division Commissioner

We are staging "Guidespell", our version of a Scout Gang Show as part of Greenock Division's Guiding 2010 Centenary celebrations from the 18th to the 21st November 2009 in the Greenock Arts Guild Theatre.

This will be the first of many events to be held locally to celebrate Girlguiding's centenary.

In previous years Greenock division has presented two Guidespell shows both of which were held in the Arts guild.

The first show was in 1979 to raise money for the Year of The Child and part of the proceeds went to Dr. Graham’s School Library in Kalimpong and to The Royal Commonwealth Society for the Blind. Have a look at the cast and stage crew photographs from the first Guidespell. Also, a copy of the original programme from 1985 can be viewed here.

The second Guidespell show was produced to celebrate 75 years of Guiding and now 25 years later we are ready to cast the magic spell and produce an even more spectacular show with zest, sparkle and an abundance of talent. It will give everyone of all ages the opportunity to see Guiding in a new and modern light.

As with earlier shows, all this would not be possible without the help and dedication of Greenock District Scouts to whom we are eternally grateful for supporting us in this venture. Kenny Wilson has been a leading light, spending hours researching suitable scripts and music suitable for today’s 21st century guide.

Having had a preview of the programme of entertainment, this show will lift spirits, have you singing and tapping your feet and make you proud of the wonderful talent we have in Greenock Division Guiding.

We are delighted that Guidespell is the exciting start to an action packed Centenary year - please join us in our celebrations!
